For us, “typical cuisine” isn’t a series of codified recipes or a set of rules. It is a daily relationship with food and loved ones with whom we eat. We care deeply about what we eat ourselves and what we serve to our guests.
If you wander into Simone’s produce shop (fruttivendolo) in the morning, there is a good chance you will run into someone from our chef’s team picking up a few extra kilo of May cherries or November chestnuts. Needless to say, everything that comes out of our kitchen is as local as it gets.
At La Bandita Caffe, you will find our spin on Tuscan cuisine. It’s casual, unassuming, and easy to understand; uniquely urban and country cool. There’s style, a sneaky international flavor or two, and a dish for every palette.

Chef David Mangan has headed up the kitchen at La Bandita Townhouse Caffe since the very beginning. After many years at the highly esteemed Gleneagles Hotel, one of the world’s 50 best hotels, David visited Pienza and was overwhelmed by the beauty of the Val d’Orcia. You’ll probably see David’s three sons running around Pienza after school, and you might see David training for a marathon in the valley.
